Mary Katz grew up in South Dakota. She graduated from Smith College and received her master’s degree from Boston University. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Woodstock School of Art. After a career in graphic design, she returned to painting in recent years.
